Happy Summer Solstice! It’s time to get your home ready for the new season. Discover our cleaning checklist to get your house summer ready and you on your way to enjoying the weather.
Landscape Cleaning
The first point in your Summer cleaning checklist should be cleaning the landscape of your house. Your front yard is the first view of your house and if you want to show off all the cleaning done, the outside will be the first to reflect this. Start by improving the look of your grass. If you have any trash, leaves, sticks or weeds, remove those for an instant clean look.
Next, if your grass is as high as your ankles, it’s time to bring out the lawnmower. Lastly, take necessary steps to fill in empty spaces of missing grass or improving the dead yellow grass on your front lawn. You won’t notice an immediate difference, but when the Summer is over, your grass will be the star of your development.
Driveway Refresh
Giving your driveway a fresh, clean look isn’t the first thought on a cleaning list but should be considered on yours. Snow can do real damage to your driveway, so it’s important to fill any cracks and seal. This is a basic maintenance of your driveway that should be performed every year to enhance the curb appeal to your house and prevent damage to your car driving on it.
Cushion Cleaning
Before you allow someone to sit on your deck outside, consider just how clean your outdoor sitting furniture is, especially anything that is made of cushion. This should be next on your list of cleaning to get Summer ready. You don’t want any of your guest sitting on a stain-infested seat or leaning on a dirty pillow while at your Summer cookout. Proceed with taking the washable cushion off your seating area and putting it in the washer machine. Spray stain remover to get rid of any harsh outside stains. A simple wash will revamp your whole deck.
Window Cleaning
Next on your Summer cleaning checklist should be cleaning all of your windows. Have you noticed how many bugs could be trapped between your windows or the hand stains that are on the inside of the windows left over from the highly-anticipated snow days? While you may want to do your cleaning all on one day, wait to clean your windows on a cloudier day so that the sun won’t dry your windows faster creating unwanted streaks.
Grill Cleaning
The last and maybe most important cleaning checkpoint for getting your house summer ready is cleaning off the dirty grill for upcoming cookouts. Hopefully, you cleaned off the grill after cooking on it, so it’s basic maintenance that needs to be done. Check and see if you need to add more gas to the grill and wipe down outside of the grill if any dirty can be seen. By the time your cookout comes around, no preparation will be needed.
