Cleaning Checklist for Thanksgiving

Cleaning Checklist for Thanksgiving | Misty Clean
Your family will be impressed with how amazing your home looks after we deep-clean it

Thanksgiving is a fantastic occasion. Families and friends have the opportunity to take time away from work, reflect on what they’re grateful for, and eat delicious food. Thanksgiving also takes a lot of work, especially if you’re the person hosting the holiday dinner. It means that there’s a lot of cooking and cleaning involved, but with Misty Clean on your side, holiday preparation doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. Not only are we experts regarding commercial cleaning, but we offer residential cleaning as well. We offer one-time residential cleaning services if your goal is to be extra prepared for the holidays. Here is a cleaning checklist that you should keep in mind each Thanksgiving.

Two Weeks Before Turkey Day:

When it’s two weeks before Thanksgiving, you should take the time to clean areas in the home or surfaces that you know will relatively not become dirty again within two weeks. These cleaning tasks include:

  • Clean out your refrigerator. Not only should you sanitize your fridge, but you should throw away old food so that you can make room for all of the leftovers that you’re going to enjoy.
  • Make room in your coat closet. Depending on how large your family is, that could mean a lot of coats will be in your closet. You’re most likely going to need ample space if a lot of guests come over to enjoy the holiday with you.
  • Clean the special china. It’s normal for fancy dishes to become dusty. Homeowners often don’t use fine china unless there’s a holiday or special event.
  • Clean cluttered areas. It takes time to clean cluttered areas of the home that you may not have tended to in a while. You never want to do this last minute, or cleaning could be overwhelming.

One Week Before Turkey Day:

At this point, you want to start vacuuming, cleaning off window seals, and washing and ironing any tablecloths or napkins that you’ll be using for your holiday dinner. There are specific cleaning tasks that you can do each day to make sure that your home stays clean. These tasks include sweeping, washing dishes each day, and keeping the stove and counters clean. During this time, you always want to deep-clean your bathrooms, guest bedrooms, or any area of your home where guests will populate.

The Day of Thanksgiving:

By this time, you’ve probably done a lot of cooking, which means that there is a lot of trash buildup. Take out the trash before guests arrive. Once again, make sure the stove is clean, and clear your countertop or kitchen island of clutter or any areas where your guests will congregate.

If this cleaning checklist sounds overwhelming, then let us help. After all, you should be able to relax during Thanksgiving. Make cleaning one less task to perform. Our professional, residential cleaning services are high-quality and reliable.
